Deadline for filing accounts with Companies House delayed by 3 months
The UK Government has announced that from today (25/03/20) businesses can apply for a 3-month extension for filing their accounts. The Government says:
“As part of the agreed measures, while companies will still have to apply for the 3-month extension to be granted, those citing issues around COVID-19 will be automatically and immediately granted an extension. Applications can be made through a fast-tracked online system which will take just 15 minutes to complete.”
You can read about how to do this here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-more-time-to-file-your-companys-accounts.
By implication – there is more time to pay your Corporation Tax
UK Tax Law says that a company is not liable to a penalty for late submission of a tax return if the return is delivered on or before the last day for the delivery of the accounts. So this means that if the above applies to your company the date that a penalty for non-delivery of a tax return has also been delayed.
